This weekend, myself and my
model man ventured down the Great Ocean Road for a mini vacation! It’s easy to forget how beautiful our landscape here in Victoria is and there is no better way to reinvigorate that appreciation than to revisit the region with someone whom has never seen it. Being from Queensland, Shaun had never seen this sector of Victoria and it just so happens we chose the perfect day with the most aquamarine waters i had ever seen combined with clear blue skies!
First up on the agenda was cheese and wine, both being rather avid fans we took pot luck and stopped at the cutest little local winery Bellbrae Estate. This cute little local was desolate (it was a Thursday) and we had the entire picnic area located an abundance of gum trees – to ourselves! Not forgetting dessert, we next ventured about seven km up the road to the newer Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie. Aimed a little more at actual tourists, this place is a chocolate addicts heaven. You can not only order a fondue platter, view the chocolate being made through glass windows but also participate in classes.
We highly recommend the fondue with a side of their incredible chocolate brownie. However, i warn you that a sugar coma is imminent!

Next up, we checked into our gorgeous Victorian style Airbnb called ‘Lahnook On Moore’ Apollo Bay. This stunning residence (sleeps up to 8-9) combines high ceilings and expansive windows to overlook the flourishing gardens and provide a completely isolated home away from home experience. But it was the little extras, like the goodie hamper stocked with local chocolates and the cutest outdoor setting that sat right under the most lushest oak tree – that really made this stay exactly what we needed.
Shaun was also decked out for our trip with new outfits from the team at Johnny Bigg. Coming in at 6’5, its fair to say he has his troubles when it comes to finding clothes that have the right fit – so their tall range was an absolute savior! Finally shirts that fit his torso straight off the shop floor without any alterations required. Which finally leads to an actually enjoyable shopping experience, it’s hard enough that most men dislike shopping let alone when they are not easy to fit. He actually walked out smiling and the un-coaxed words from his mouth being ‘That was actually fun’!
Another massive bonus are the Johnny Bigg shoes range. As anyone whom has shopped for a size 15 foot would know , it’s not easy, so to find the team stocked up to a size 15 in store (and online) was a pleasant surprise. Not only that, the price points are very reasonable with most sitting around the $89.95 mark, actually the entire clothing range is also very reasonable priced.
On our second day we also did a road trip up to the Cape Otway Lightstation (which i highly recommend) and then spent a majority of the afternoon at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse for tastings (plus to pick up my favorite GORGE chocolates). Then on our way home we stopped in at my favorite Pennyroyal Raspberry Farm and the more extravagant Mt Duneed Estate Winery.
You can shop all these looks and more through the newly re-launched (super easy to use!) Johnny Bigg Online Store or pop in to say hello at any of these their physical locations – which you can find using your postcode here.
